Information regarding UIC Investigator Training Requirements

Informed Consent in Action” is a 60-minute training DVD designed to demonstrate best practices for recruiting participants and obtaining informed consent in community-based research. Five experienced community research partners share lessons learned. Vignettes show what community-based research looks like, and group discussions highlight key points and raise issues for further discussion.

“Informed Consent in Action” is a component of the CIRTification training program (http://www.ccts.uic.edu/content/cirtification) in human research protections that is tailored to the unique roles of community research partners. Ideally, this training program will not only teach community research partners about the importance of protecting research participants but also enhance the overall contribution that they are able to make to their respective research teams towards the goal of becoming co-researchers.
