RCR Workshop Series for Postdocs and Faculty

The workshops are open to any interested postdoctoral scientist, mentor, research staff, faculty member, or senior graduate student, but the workshops should only be attended by students that have previously completed the GC 501 course. If you have any questions about the RCR Workshop Series for Postdocs and Faculty, please contact the Office of Research Integrity.

The RCR Workshop Series for Postdoctoral Scholars and Faculty was designed to address the National Institutes of Health (NIH) RCR training requirements (NOT-OD-10-019 and NOT-OD-22-055) and the NIH Rigor and Reproducibility (R&R) training requirements (NOT-OD-20-033 and NOT-020-090) for NIH grant awardees and applicants. Sessions that could count toward R&R Training are denoted with a double dagger (‡) following the title. More information from the NIH on R&R training can be found on the NIH FAQ. If you would like to include this workshop in your NIH application, a template is available for download. NIH Awards and Applications that require RCR and/or R&R training include D43, D71, F05, F30, F31, F32, F33, F34, F37, F38, K01, K02, K05, K07, K08, K12, K18, K22, K23, K24, K25, K26, K30, K99/R00, KL1, KL2, R25, R36, T15, T32, T34, T35, T36, T37, T90/R90, TL1, TU2, and U2R, among others. The workshop also meets the National Science Foundation (NSF) training requirements (PAPPG) for faculty and senior investigators.

To meet the NIH/PHS requirements an individual needs to attend at least 8 sessions every 4 years throughout the period of their support on a specific training program. We recommend that you attend more sessions and continue to attend so that there is no need to renew your training.  If you are funded on a 6 year award and complete eight senior RCR sessions in the first 8 months of your support, you will need to complete additional sessions in year 4 of the support.   Additionally, if your support bridges stages of training, e.g., postdoctoral training in first 2 years and mentored faculty in years 3 through 4 for an K99/R00, you would need to complete 8 sessions in the first two years and an additional 8 session in years 3 and 4.

We recommend attendance beyond the minimum to assure that the NIH will view the training as continuous and not needing renewal.

We recommend that you attend at least 8 different topics, but we do not track the topics when determining if you met the minimum requirements for RCR training.
