Explore the University Library’s spaces: the Digital Scholarship Hub at Daley Library, the First Step Foundation Digital Imaging Studio and our amazing Special Collections! Faculty and staff from the University Library will be available on Thursday between 12-3 to show you these spaces which facilitate new and ongoing research!

Digital Scholarship Hub:

The digital scholarship hub is open to faculty, students, and staff!  We provide support for developing and fabricating 3D objects, in addition to support with text analysis and visualization.   Stop by the Digital Fabrication Hub (1-460) to see the CNC machine, Laser Cutter, embroidery machine, 3D printers, and other equipment in action! Digital Imaging Studio:

The Single Step Foundation Digital Imaging Studio works to make our unique collections available to the world! This exciting digitization space includes photographic and processing scanners, OCR and text recognition software and more. Join us for an open house to learn more about the UIC Daley Library Special Collections & University Archives and our mission to collect, preserve, and provide access to the history of Chicago, Chicagoland, politics and advocacy, design history, and UIC from Navy Pier to present.

You will have a chance to

  • Come see our exhibits related to the Asian American Resource and Cultural Center and Rudy Lozano, UIC alum and Mexican American activist.
  • View unique historical documents and photos from a variety of collections.

Are you interested in historical public health data, occupational health, medical illustrations, early pharmacopeias, or what it was like to be a nurse in the 1930s? We have answers to all that and more.

Join our open house to learn more about the UIC Library of Health Sciences Special Collections & University Archives and our mission to collect, preserve, and provide access to our collections documenting the medical and health history of the Chicago area, as well as the history of UIC’s medical campus. We are located on the third floor of LHS.

You will have a chance to

  • View unique selections from our rare book collections.
  • Learn about our holdings and how to explore our primary sources on the history of medicine, nursing, dentistry, or pharmacy.
