Epic Research Roles

Users will have access to:

  • View: Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation.
  • SlicerDicer: run reports and access dynamic data on Research patients.

They will not have access to order or complete any clinical documentation.​

This access is for a Research Coordinator or Investigator who is already acting in a UI Health clinical oncology role, and have Epic access for that existing role.  This is meant to give additional access on top of their existing clinical role for specific oncology research functionality.

Specifically users will have access to:

  • All access currently provided by their clinical oncology role
  • View: Research Studies and enrollment details
  • Activities/Tools: Enroll/associate a patient in a study, manage oncology treatment plans, perform Research Billing Review, Coordinate and Release Study Monitor Access​

This access is for Research Coordinators or Investigators in the oncology space who are not credentialed clinicians at UI Health.

Specifically users will have access to:

  • View: Schedules, Flowsheets, MAR documentation, Problem List, Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation
  • Document: Notes, vitals
  • Order: Can pend procedure and medication orders.
  • Activities/Tools: Enroll/ associate patients to Studies, manage oncology treatment plans, perform Research Billing Review, Coordinate and Release Study Monitor Access, InBasket and MyChart patient messaging, run Research reports

These users will not have access to sign orders, document flowsheets or medication administration, complete registration or scheduling. (Note: If registration and scheduling functions are needed, additional access will need to be requested)​

This access is for Research Coordinators or Investigators in the oncology space who are not credentialed clinicians at UI Health AND will need access to scheduling and light registration (schegistration).

Specifically users will have access to:

  • View: Schedules, Flowsheets, MAR documentation, Problem List, Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation
  • Document: Notes, vitals
  • Order: Can pend procedure and medication orders.
  • Activities/Tools: Enroll/ associate patients to Studies, manage oncology treatment plans, perform Research Billing Review, Coordinate and Release Study Monitor Access, In Basket and MyChart patient messaging, run Research reports, perform basic scheduling and registration tasks. These users will not have access to sign orders, document flowsheets or medication administration.​

This access is for CRFO Research Billing users, who are research non-study team members who perform charge review of sessions related to research studies.

Specifically, users will have access to:

  • View: Research Study enrollment status and details, Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation
  • Activities/Tools: Run Research reports
  • May: Access and process Retroadjudication, Correct charges and view claims in Account maintenance, Log and Update Denial/Remark, Mark as Reviewed for Research, collect and bundle payments, perform client charge corrections

These users are responsible for overseeing research billing across the organization and ensuring research billing compliance.

Specifically these users:

  • Utilize dashboards and reports to monitor the research billing for an organization
  • Perform billing review

These users do not determine which patients, visits, or orders should be associated with research studies.

This access is for Research Chart Reviewers.  This allows specific users to review the patient’s chart in a read only capacity.

This access is for users who need View Only access to the patient’s chart. Specifically, users will have access to

  • View: Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation

These users will not have access to register/schedule, nor order or perform any clinical documentation.​

  • Activities/Tools: Enroll, associate patients to Studies, perform Research Billing Review, Coordinate and Release Study Monitor Access, In Basket and MyChart patient messaging, run Research reports, perform basic scheduling and registration tasks

These users will not have access to sign orders, document flowsheets or medication administration.​

This access is for Research Data Coordinator users, who are research study team members who perform primarily data collection or abstraction related to the study in Epic.

Specifically, users will have access to:

  • View: Research Study enrollment status and details, Chart Review: Can view past encounters, results, notes, documentation
  • Activities/Tools: Run Research reports, Coordinate and Release Study Monitor Access

They will not have access to enroll patients, order, or enter any clinical documentation

SlicerDicer Access Only

These users are responsible for generating SlicerDicer Reports.

Specifically, these users:

  • Will have count level access to SlicerDicer

These users will not have access to anything other than count level SlicerDicer data.
