About

Dr. Snehlata Tigala is the Assistant Director of Research Development. In this role, she assists faculty in pursuing external funding to strengthen the university's research endeavors. She identifies funding opportunities and manages related communication and dissemination.

Prior to joining UIC, Dr. Tigala was an Associate Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Delhi. At TERI, she worked on climate change issues, including cryospheric variability and its social impacts on Himalayan communities. During her tenure, she led and contributed to several proposals and projects funded by both government and international agencies. She authored several scientific papers, policy briefs, and newspaper articles focusing on water security and conservation. She also coordinated webinars and capacity-building training programs for community and upper management.

Dr. Tigala holds a master's degree in Zoology from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Health from TERI School of Advanced Studies, New Delhi. Her doctoral research focused on evaluating the health impacts on women due to exposure to respirable particulate matter. She has published her research in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals.
