About
Elaine Fluder serves as the Director of the Office for the Protection of Research Subjects. She began her career as a critical care nurse at an academic medical center where her interest in research began. After more than 15 years as a nurse clinician she expanded into the world of clinical research, eventually moving to roles in research compliance and administration. Prior experiences include serving as a voting member and vice chair of an institutional review board, human protections administrator, chair of the Conflicts of Interest in Research Committee and chair of the Institutional Biosafety Committee.
Her accomplishments include establishing a research compliance and safety program as well as obtaining accreditation for the Human Subjects Protection Program at UIC. She received her master’s in nursing from the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago.
