NIH Resources and Funding for MSIs

The National Institutes of Health has a growing body of resources for enhancing diversity in biomedical research, including among underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, individuals with disabilities, individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, and women. They offer a database of diversity-related abstracts  as well as other data and reports, resources for individuals at all career stages, and a current list of funding opportunities related to diversity.

NIH also offers additional funds to recruit and support students, postdocs, and eligible investigators from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in health-related research. These administrative supplements are available to Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)) holding specific types of research grants and must support work within the scope of the original project.
