Support for Data Management and Sharing Policy

Support for Data Management and Sharing Policy Heading link

Dear Colleagues,

In October 2020, the NIH issued the Data Management and Sharing (DMS) Policy to further their commitment to making the research available to the public. The effective date for the policy was January 25, 2023, and we have partnered with researchers creating over 50 data management plans.

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research will continue providing trainings and consultations for investigators, students and departmental staff to promote appropriate data sharing. Please complete this online form to request group training or individual or research team consultation. Virtual OVCR Open Office Hours are on Wednesdays, from 12:30-1:30pm. No appointments are required for these Office Hours.

Also upcoming, the National Science Foundation, NASA and other agencies are releasing their draft changes in response to the 2022 Office of Science and Technology Policy Memo. If you have questions or would like to discuss a specific agencies changes, we are tracking these changes as they are being released.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at ordi2@uic.edu or Abigail Goben, OVCR Data Policy Advisor, at agoben@uic.edu.  We are happy to assist with reviews of your draft data management plans, including meeting with the research teams, either online or in person.

Sincerely,
