Image of Research awards show beauty of UIC science

A person stands in a green, hilly field, the site of an infamous World War I battle.

Each spring, the UIC Graduate College and Library co-organize The Image of Research, an interdisciplinary competition open to all graduate students across campus. This year’s awards were announced on April 28th and reflect the scientific diversity of the competition with winners from social sciences, humanities, biology, and engineering and subjects ranging from school closures and poetry to the immune system and fluid dynamics.

The competition included both still image and moving image categories, with the latter naming first place winners in both animation and live action sub-categories.

Below, you can view a selection of the winning still images, with a description of the project in the alt text. Learn about all of the winners and honorable mentions at the Graduate College website, and read more about the awards at UIC today.
