The College of Urban Planning and Public Administration (CUPPA) is hosting an on-campus visit by NSF Program Director Dr. Mary Feeney, who will talk about programs in the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences  (SBE) Directorate at NSF. Dr. Feeney will give a 30-min presentation on her portfolio and an overview of SBE programs, including CAREER, followed by 30 min for open discussion. Participants can also sign up for individual or small group discussions with Dr. Feeney--see link directly below the event RSVP.

This session complements the 2022 NSF CAREER Proposal Development Series, hosted by the Office of Research Development.

Presenter:

Mary K. Feeney is Program Director for the Science of Science: Discovery, Communication, and Impact program in the Division of Social and Economic Sciences (SES) of the Directorate for Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) at the National Science Foundation. SOS:DCI is an interdisciplinary program that funds research on the social science of science and partners with many other SES programs to fund research grants. SOS:DCI also houses SciSIPBIO – a partnership with the NIH that funds research on the science of science with a medical biology focus. Dr. Feeney is currently on leave from her position as Lincoln Professor of Ethics and Professor in Public Affairs in the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on public and nonprofit management, sector comparisons, and science and technology policy.

Dr. Feeney’s presentation will focus on general advice about grant submissions to the NSF, opportunities in the Division of Social and Economic Sciences (SES), new initiatives related to Broadening Participation, and CAREER grants.
