Following are the UIC fringe benefit rates for Fiscal Year 2016, commencing in July 2015 with the BW 15 and MN 8 pay periods (with the exception of Retirement, which is effective with BW 14 and MN 7). The SURS and FICA rates for FY16 are final. However, the health, life and dental (HLD); the termination, vacation and sick (TVS) leave; the workers’ compensation; and the graduate assistant health, dental and vision (HDV) rates are provisional and may require slight adjustment after the federal audit is completed. The final FY16 rates will be communicated at that time.
eRA is embarking on a long-term project to ensure high availability of its modules and databases in the event of a disaster or an unexpected outage.
eRA will be upgrading its data infrastructure over the Memorial Day weekend in May. This process will involve downtime of approximately 8 hours starting at 9:00AM and will result in eRA Commons and ASSIST being unavailable during that time.
We are informing you of this downtime now so as to give as much advance notice as possible for your planning purposes.

Subject: Budgeting Equipment on Sponsored Projects – Effective May 1, 2015
The University defines capital equipment as items with a unit value of $5000 or more and having a useful life of over one year, which is consistent with Federal and State equipment definitions and regulations. However, the practice of UIC has been to categorize anything costing $500 or more as equipment for the purpose of proposal budgets to external agencies.
When submitting a Research Performance Progress Report (RPPR) that includes Inclusion Enrollment data, grantees may encounter a new error message. The new error message reads:
