UIC Research- IACUC Protocol Submission System
Introduction
Dear UIC Research Community,
As a follow up to the July 2025 implementation of a new electronic animal protocol submission system, UIC Research- IACUC, we are reaching out to provide additional guidance on preparation for New and Triennial animal protocol submissions.
Former ACC Protocol Forms for animal use (Forms A, B, and C), are no longer accepted for animal protocol submissions.
Lab Training on the Electronic Animal Protocol Submission System: All researchers engaged in animal research, training and/or teaching are requested to contact OACIB@uic.edu prior to protocol triennial due dates or in advance of new submissions to allow adequate time for lab training on the new system. Remote training via Zoom is scheduled to align with each lab's schedules. Advance training and planning is highly encouraged in order to prevent delays in protocol reviews and animal work.
Protocol submissions are pre-reviewed for completeness in minimally required sections. Protocols with substantially missing information, including experimental design and procedural details, will be returned to the lab for revisions, with guidance provided on how to address missing information. Protocol review cannot proceed without the required detailed information.
PIs will be notified via email reminders several months in advance regarding protocol submission due dates.
Training and resources can be found on the ACC website.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to OACIB@uic.edu with any questions.
