SUMMARY:“Where Can I Look for Private Sector Research Funding?”: Understanding How to Work Effectively with the UIC Corporate and Foundation Relations Office (Session 2)
DESCRIPTION:Amidst the constantly changing landscape of government grant funding\, foundation and corporate giving opportunities offer researchers and program staff alternative ways to support their work. For faculty unfamiliar with these types of funders\, though\, understanding how best to work with these organizations can be unclear. Join representatives from the UIC Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) team to learn how to navigate the private philanthropic sector and what internal resources are available to support these efforts. During this presentation\, members of the CFR team will discuss independent and corporate foundations that fund academic research and highlight examples of recent grants and other philanthropic partnerships on campus. They will provide guidelines for engaging with foundations and corporations and conclude by describing the advancement resources available to PIs at the campus and college levels. The presentation aims to offer insights into funding opportunities for early- to mid-career faculty interested in learning how to secure funding from the private sector.    Please note that Session 2 (Thursday\, April 24th) will be hosted by Swapna Naidu\, Director of Foundation Relations\, who serves as the CFR liaison to UIC Health Science Colleges. She will be joined by Chris Menden\, Director of Corporate Relations\, and Morgan Benson\, Senior Director of Foundation Relations. These CFR team members serve as liaisons to the following colleges:     	Applied Health Sciences   	Dentistry   	Engineering   	Nursing   	Pharmacy   	Public Health   	Social Work    While this session is open to all UIC faculty and staff\, we strongly encourage representatives from these colleges to attend this session.
