Since January 2025, many things have changed (and some have not) in the proposal development and submission processes experienced by National Institutes of Health (NIH) applicants. This panel discussion will enable participants to hear directly from UIC colleagues who submitted at least one NIH proposal in 2022-2024 and another in 2025-2026. Panelists will share their candid thoughts on similarities and differences between the “eras” in terms of the timing of the process, pre-application interactions with NIH, administrative requirements and more. To include the perspectives of both researchers and staff, the panel will consist of faculty principal investigators (PIs) and their staff supporters. A structured panel discussion will be followed by an open question-and-answer session with the audience.

Jalees Rehman – Benjamin Goldberg Professor and Head
