In addition to its broad selection of competitive research awards, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides many opportunities to obtain additional funding for current grants through administrative supplements. These supplements can provide support for new research directions or special priority areas, as well as support for diversity within the biomedical research workforce. During this presentation, speakers from the UIC Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and federal relations firm Lewis-Burke Associates LLC will provide an overview of NIH’s approach to administrative supplements. The presentation will include background on the types of supplements available, discussion on NIH’s motivation for using this mechanism and guidance on how to successfully secure supplemental funding for personnel or projects within your research program. There will be time for Q&A following the presentation and participants can engage directly with the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Lewis-Burke following the event.
