Dr. Alan Koncarevic, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Innovation and Corporate Partnerships at UIC, will be presenting a brown bag lunch on Wednesday, November 17 at noon (CT) entitled “Private-Sector Research Collaborations.”  During this presentation, Dr. Koncarevic will provide an overview of motivation and drivers of collaboration in industry and academia, including select engagement mechanisms and collaboration opportunities between academia and industry. He will also discuss select opportunities and challenges when forming partnerships with industry. He will describe what PIs should do if they want to seek private-sector funding (or other resources) for their research. He will conclude by offering some things to consider when building a relationship and communicating with a private-sector funder. The presentation is intended to provide insights into funding and collaboration opportunities for early- to mid-career faculty looking to learn more about how to secure research funding from the private sector.
