The UIC Postdoc Workshop Series is held annually to allow UIC postdocs to build or hone transferrable skills that they may or may not necessarily obtain in the lab. These workshops are held every other month and involve preparation (i.e. homework) and an interactive workshop (i.e. active learning) in order to learn something tangible and concrete to take home.

The series starts in November each year and focuses on the following core areas and skills that postdocs will have to apply regardless of career interest or outcome:

  • Career planning (Individual Development Plan)
  • Data management
  • Finding funding & grantsmanship
  • Teaching
  • Leadership & mentoring
